Back by Popular Demand! The “10 Things” E book
What passes for food in the U.S. has become scarier than ever. Finding healthy, chemical- and additive-free food is becoming quite the challenge! I had breakfast last weekend with friends at a local breakfast joint. The ‘cream’ for the coffee was a bowl of individual creamers, some flavored, the others labeled ‘half and half’. Yep, the ‘half and half’ had Datem, Carageenan, and preservatives added. I asked the waitress for just a small glass of real half and half or regular milk. Sorry, the chemical stuff is all they had, unless I wanted 2% milk to turn my coffee grey. Yuck. Pancakes arrived, and I duly asked for honey instead of syrup. It takes effort to eat clean. Time invested in asking what’s in everything you’re about to eat, time reading labels, time shopping and cooking for yourself. If you are willing to invest the time, in the end you will feel a lot better. So, I am bringing back my E book from my Live Well Summit I hosted back in 2014.
10 Things to Cut out of your Diet to Feel Better Now!
I encourage you to take a day for yourselves, make a grocery list, read labels at the store, and buy REAL food. Here are some easy swaps to start:
Avocado instead of Mayonnaise for sandwiches
Real Butter
Real Milk and Half and Half
Raw sugar or honey (read the label and make sure there is no corn syrup filler)
Tea instead of soda
Raw organic stevia if sugar is a no-no
Olive oil and vinegar instead of salad dressing
If you want to go an extra step, here is my firmest recommendation:
Cut out ALL corn products (corn syrup solids, HFCS, corn oil)
Cut out ANYTHING containing Canola oil ( Olive oil ‘blend’ products, commercial salad dressing)
Cut out anything containing SOY.
Most U.S. corn, soy, and canola (rapeseed) are all GMO, unless you specifically buy organic, non-GMO products.
This may be a big change, but once you are in the habit of reading labels and shopping for yourself, it gets easier and faster.
And here is a great link to help you navigate those food labels:
